Enter Lynch’s Empire, a World of Cows

On December 3rd, 2006

Cinematic oddity David Lynch has finally set up a site for his upcoming movie INLAND EMPIRE. In a similar design to his own website, it contains release dates and a few tantalising photos before the big release. And when I say big release I mean tiny, for Lynch has decided to be Mr. Movie Mogul and distribute the film himself. Good for him, I say. So far the film is set to screen in very select theatres in New York, LA, and Boston, with Austin, Chicago, Washington DC, Seattle, and San Francisco to follow shortly.

Sadly, it will be a while before it reaches Europe, but Studio Canal is set to distribute.

So far, INLAND EMPIRE, has been receiving mixed reviews. It’s a 3-hour movie shot on consumer DV equipment with no coherent plot, so critics are divided over whether it’s a masterpiece of unconscious art, or the pretentious self-indulgence of a madman. I suggest you wait for the ScreenHead review.
And on an end note, Lynch recently used a typically strange way of promoting the film. You could almost say it was quite moooving.
