Penguins Still Dancing, Baby Jesus Sad

December 4th, 2006 in Box Office -

Dancing penguins who sound like Robin Williams are still inexplicably popular, with Happy Feet holding onto the number one spot at the box office for the third week in a row. James Bond continues to take cover behind the penguins – very secret agent-like – with Casino Royale holding on to the number two spot, and Deja Vu providing just that by holding onto third place.

The Nativity Story was a disaster. Costing $35 million and opening nationwide in 3,183 theaters the big budget school play took just $8 million. Ouch.

  1. Happy Feet $17 mil (total: $121 mil)
  2. Casino Royale $15.1 mil ($115 mil)
  3. Deja Vu $11 mil ($44.1 mil)
  4. The Nativity Story $8 mil ($8 mil)
  5. Deck The Halls $6.7 mil ($25 mil)
  6. The Santa Clause 3 $5 mil ($73.2 mil)
  7. Borat $4.8 mil ($116.3 mil)
  8. Turistas $3.5 mil ($3.5 mil)
  9. Stranger Than Fiction $3.4 mil ($37 mil)
  10. Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj $2.3 mil ($2.3 mil)
