Spike Lee will soon be donning his thinking (presumably still baseball) cap to cast the lead in his recently announced James Brown biopic and Eddie Murphy must cross his mind at some point. The above video is from an old Saturday Night Live sketch starring the future Axel Foley. Rubadub.

Only downside is Murphy’s age. The clip is from when Saturday Night Live was funny, so it must be a few years old (Will Ferrell and Weekend Update excepted). Murphy is now 45.

I think Usher should play as James Brown because he resembles him and he can sing plus he has acting experience. If Eddie Murphy plays as James Brown i think it would be a joke just like on Saturday nite live. If you are doing this for money which you are put Usher in because his last Album went diamond and the last movies he did were ok and didn’t even star in those. Basically, he has creditablity he will sell more than Eddie Murphy. Simply because of the psychological factor people would be curious to how usher plays James Brown and in that process they will learn about and how James Brown act. People didn’t think Jamie Foxx would do a good job but he did simply because he resembled him and of his credibility.

I think eddie murphy would be a great candidate to play the part of James Brown. Eddie is a serious actor, not only a great comedian. Eddie can play the young, mid-aged and senior “Brown.” Spike, let’s get the show on the road.

I also think Eddie could do a FABULOUS job of playing James Brown. After his recent performance in Dreamgirls as “James ‘Thunder’ Early”, I thought he was *very* “James Brown – like”.

Eddie I hope you’re offered the role, and I hope you accept it!

There's no other person in the world that should perform this role, but Eddie. Anyone else would be horrible. Yes, he's a comic. He's also starred in serious roles as well. He's the right height, weight, skin tone and also he doesn't have to try that hard to do James Brown's voice. Someone stated that Usher or Wesley should play the role. Awwww naw! This is about a man's world. Wesley hasn't done anything in years. He can't sing and maybe even dance. And Usher. OMG! Why! Because he sings? Dances? Not like James, and probaly never will. I want laugh, dance, sing along and maybe cry when I see James being remembered in such a special movie.
