Shyamalan vs Cameron
There may be trouble ahead. With James Cameron and Fox confirming that the King of the World’s first feature film since Titanic will be titled Avatar, Paramount have announced that M. Night Shyamalan is working on a big screen adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name.
Paramount claim they’e registered the name with the Motion Picture Association of America, but a FOX rep was dismissive.
“We own the movie title Avatar. There won’t be another film called ‘Avatar’ coming from anyplace.”
All respect to Paramount, and a great idea for Shyamalan to make something that didn’t spring from his increasingly mental (and not in a good way) imagination. But we all know that if it comes down to a battle of wills, or any other sort of battle (fist fight, staring contest, rock-paper-scissors) then James Cameron is going to win.
