Pirates trailer to get its own premiere
Ahoy there maties, and other pirate related phrases. You may think that Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is such a guaranteed blockbuster it doesn’t even need a trailer. Especially since Curse Of The Black Pearl was actually kind of disappointing but still made a fortune any pirate would be proud of.
Well Disney disagrees with you. The trailer for the final Pirates is getting its own premiere on March 18th during the Pirates of the Caribbean Ultimate Fan Event, which will take place nationwide and feature a screening of the most recent sequel and all kinds of pirate related prizes (rum maybe?). If you can’t make it to the Ultimate Fan Event, or if you’re some sort of weirdo with a social life not involving the attendance of Disney sanctioned pirate themed events, then the trailer will air on ABC the next day.
And from then until the movies release on May 25th brace yourself for a blitz of Pirates related promotional activity.
Can you believe they’re already talking about a 4th Pirates? They’re fun and all, but seems like they’d just be going for the $$ when they extend past the original plan of 3.

I’ve never heard of anything like this. Yahoo even has an “countdown” to the premier. I’m not sure what this says about the paying public (or the current state of blockbuster filmmaking), but I’m fairly certain I don’t like it. I’d hate to see the day when we have to pay money just to watch some previews. Could you imagine? A full price ticket to sit and watch 10 trailers?
