Top 5: Tom Cruise Roles

Yeah, he is corny and probably needs a good psychologist (even though he doesn’t believe in them) to look his head over. Forgiving all of his recent wackiness we countdown Tom Cruise’s best roles throughout his career.
Number 5: The Color of Money: Movie is a remake of Paul Newman’s classic ‘The Hustler’. In the original Newman plays the young hot shot who cannot be tamed. Cruise takes over that roll in this one which is truly a delight and worth many viewings.
Number 4: The Outsiders: Early film (1983) that gets panned by a lot of critics. I honestly don’t get the critics hatred towards this movie and is a must see as you will see future superstars Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio (AKA the Karate Kid), Rob Lowe, and Emilio Estevez.
Number 3: Eyes Wide Shut: Ok, stop laughing. It was probably hard for him to act like he liked women in the roll. In all seriousness, another one that some people hate. But, in all its weirdness, I enjoy the film and his overall performance in it.
Number 2: Top Gun: The one that made him a household name. Iconic 80′s film still stands up today because of his mere presence.
Number 1: Magnolia: Among a cast that included, among other, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, and Felicity Huffman, Cruise delivers a performance that makes them look like amateurs. He got ROBBED of an Oscar by Michael Caine (The Cider House Rules) but did take home the Golden Globe for his performance as Frank T.J. Mackey.

Topgun it is definitely my number one, then The Outsiders and the I think that movie he was in with Cuba Gooding Show me the money one that was cool

“The Color of Money” was a sequel, not a remake. It is based on the novel by Walter Tevis, who also wrote the original novel, “The Hustler”. Paul Newman played the same character of “Fast Eddie” Felsen in both Robert Rossen’s 1961 film, and Martin Scorsese’s 1986 film which finally got Newman his Best Actor Oscar. Tom Cruise plays a character named
Vincent Lauria.
I’m glad to see some praise for his work in “Magnolia,” which is criminally ignored performance. I would also include his role in “Born on the 4th of July,” which is another great film that has been a bit neglected whenever anyone mentions Cruise (or Oliver Stone).
I agree with you about Eyes Wide Shut. Whatever people say about the film (personally, I love it), you can’t fault Cruise’s performance. Kidman, now that’s another story.
Outsiders? His role is pretty small.
Here’s a better list 5. Collateral 4. Legend 3. Risky Business 2. Top Gun 1. Color of Money
