After.Life looking for the perfect creepy mansion

On May 21st, 2007

creepyhouse.jpg Producers of the yet-to-be-filmed After.Life are on the hunt for the perfect creepy yet elegant mansion that could also double as a funeral parlor. They are initially focusing their search on the Hudson Valley area of New York, but if nothing suitable turns up there they will be directing their attention to British Columbia.

Writer and director Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo’s After.Life will star Kate Bosworth and Alfred Molina. According to the movie’s website, the movie is a horror story about a young woman caught in “a transitional state between life and death who fights to avoid being buried alive by the funeral director.” The young woman would be Bosworth, and Molina, well he’s presumed to be taking on the role of the funeral director.

Production for After.Life is slated for later this summer, with a theatrical release in 2008. The start of summer is just a month away, which means they’ll be needing to find the perfece house at which to film pretty soon. If you’re in the Hudson Valley area and know of the ideal location, snap a photo and email it off to the Hudson Valley Film Commission.

Here’s exactly what they’re looking for:

“Preferably brick or aged stone — the house should be stately and old (e.g. Second Empire or Gothic Revival) with a sense of timelessness, history and permanence. It should be tall (at least two stories) with interesting architectural details (e.g. gables, mansard roof). The house should feel masculine with gravitas and understated elegance. It should be semi-secluded with a prominent front door and driveway. Surrounding large grounds a plus.”
