No ‘Bones’ About it: Studios Fight For Jackson’s New Film

May 2nd, 2007 in Directors, The Movie Biz -

lovelybones.jpgWe have a bidding war Ladies and Gents. Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures and DreamWorks SKG all want their paws on ‘Lord of the Rings’ Director Peter Jackson’s latest film ‘The Lovely Bones’. The film is an adaption of Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel released in 2000. Peter Jackson, upon reading the book, personally purchased the rights to make put in on the big screen.

What surprises about the overwhelming response of the movie by the studios is that the movie is about a rape and murder of a 14 year old girl. That is pretty harsh stuff in today’s politically sensitive world and I guess we shall see how the public reacts to it. The book continues with the girl, looking down on Earth from heaven, seeing how the world unfolds without her.
