How I Would Like to See ‘The Sopranos’ Live On: A Prequel

I truly think that this is a Billion Dollar idea. Remember in the first few seasons of ‘The Sopranos’ as the story would flashback to the 60′s and you would be able to get a glimpse of Tony’s father, Johnny boy, and uncle Junior as they would reign chaos upon North Jersey? Wouldn’t you love to see a movie or HBO Series devoted to ‘The Sopranos’ of yester-year? David Chase appeared to run out of ideas for the modern day Sopranos in the last few seasons. He had done everything to the characters and personalities that he had thought of, but a whole new world could await the creator of the hit show if he chooses to pursue this type of show.
The flashbacks were always a highlight for me. Imagine seeing Livia Soprano raising hell, little Tony and Janice in a sibling rivalry, Junior and Tony playing catch, Phil Leotardo and the NY crew giving Jersey hell, Paulie Walnuts back in the day, and many more stories that are just itching to be to be let out of the vaults.
How can you let a such a successful show die? The public, I think, would buy it. I think being able to start from scratch and being able to get a glimpse of what made Jersey gang what it became would be an instant success. Don’t you think that HBO or a film studio would gulp this right up?

I agree.
It would seem that a prequel to the Sopranos would be more interesting than taking this series any further.
One of my favorite episodes from the Sopranos was the flashback showing a young Tony growing up in Jersey.
It would be fascinating to see “Johnny Boy” and Corrado Soprano during the early days of their rise in the maffia.
Either a series on HBO, or a movie, it would be must-see.
Personally, I always thought Johnny Boy Soprano was the best character in the show, even though he is only on for such a short time. I always wanted to see more of him – perhaps bringing Paulie into his crew, or ordering Tony Soprano’s first hit (seen in “Remember When” briefly. I want to know if Chase has been told about this idea – if not, then he should be.
I literally just laughed out loud thinking about Paulie Walnuts as a teen.
Also I think the prequels could be maybe a 2-3 part series with the final scene of the last movie being Tony paying cash for the Escalade that he drives in the opening credits of every Sopranos TV episode
I would love to see this happen, and as the above comment stated how great it would be to see Paulie as a youngster (class). Great idea, sort it out David Chase and HBO. Please.
