“All the Boys Love Mandy Lane” Delayed, Won’t Be Released til 2008
All the Boys Love Mandy, a controversial horror flick that was supposed to debut in theaters this weekend, has been yanked. However, it will still see the light of day with a wider theater release sometime in 2008.
Distribution rights to the film have been purchased by Senator U.S. at literally the last minute, who will instead screen the film next year. This is a bummer for everyone who was looking forward to catching it this weekend, but a good thing for the film which will now be exposed to a larger potential audience.
The Weinstein Company was originally going to do a limited release of the film this weekend, but were scared off by recent poor box office shows of other horror films such as Captivity, which pulled in less than $1.5 million over its opening weekend. The timing is apparently not right for the film, so maybe waiting a bit will help Mandy Lane‘s appeal and box office sales.
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane tells the story of a popular teenage girl, played by Amber Heard, who goes along with five friends on a weekend trip. True to form, each of her five friends is eliminated by a mysterious killer… leaving Mandy there to sit and wait in horror for her turn!
