Patrice Leconte talks about My Best Friend

July 12th, 2007 in Comedy, Directors, Indie, Movie News -

For me, one of the best contemporary French filmmakers is Patrice Leconte. Among his best known films are Girl on the Bridge and Man on a Train. One of the themes Leconte likes to revisit is of two strangers who have a life changing chance encounter. Opening this Friday in the U.S., is Leconte’s latest film, My Best Friend, starring previous Leconte collaborator Daniel Auteuil, and also starring comic actor Dany Boon. The film has Auteuil playing the part of a man so unlikeable that his business partner bets him that he can not find a true friend in ten days. In response, Auteuil sets up taxi driver Boon to play the part, their relationship developing from this shaky premise. Leconte’s interview is available at Coming Soon. I plan to give this film a full review when it comes to a theater near me.
