Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour Live on the Big Screen!
Live events can be thrilling, but also expensive and difficult to attend. Fortunately, many theaters across the country have begun offering events like concerts and sporting events alongside their usual movie fare. Last year, I attended a screening of Pink Floyd singer/guitarist David Gilmour’s live performance for the BBC at the Mermaid Theater. I won’t say it’s quite the same as seeing a live, in-person performance, but it certainly is the next best thing, particularly when Gilmour’s recent tour (which featured fellow Floyd Richard Wright and many veterans of Floyd tours, like saxophonist Dick Parry) didn’t come to my town.
This year, Floyd fans are getting another special treat, as Gilmour’s blog has announced that his upcoming Remember That Night: Live at Royal Albert Hall DVD will be premiered with a special screening at 15
[N]ot only do you get to see 85-minutes from the concert – in glorious High Definition – before the DVD is released, David will also be performing a song and taking part in a live Q&A session, which you can be involved in.
Tickets for the September 15th show went on sale today, and though it’ll cost more than your average movie ticket ($12.50), it’s still a heck of a lot more affordable than a concert ticket. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing the Floyd’s 23-minute classic “Echoes” performed live. Well, “live-ish.” (No word yet on how you can participate in the Q&A.)
