Valerie Plame CIA Leak Case Headed to the Big Screen
The real-life scandalous case involving the exposing of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame, whose husband Ambassador Joe Wilson wrote a New York Times editorial charging the Bush administration with manipulating intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq, still makes headlines in the news. Now, a film bearing a close resemblance to the Plame case is about to be made into a major Hollywood motion picture. It’s called Nothing But the Truth.
Taking a seat in the director’s chair will be Rod Lurie, who will be working with a star-studded cast. Reportedly, Matt Damon will play the role of the prosecutor, Vera Farmiga will play the CIA agent, and Edie Falco will play the part of the editor of the newspaper that publishes the article. Kate Beckinsdale is also in talks to play the role of journalist Judith Miller.
Interestingly, the story of the film will not be from the perspective of Plame and Wilson, but rather, it will be shown from the perspective of Judith Miller, the Washington journalist who outted a CIA agent and was then jailed for refusing to reveal her source.
Shooting on the film is expected to begin sometime in October.
