Howard Stern’s “Porky’s” Remake is a Go!

On August 15th, 2007

The self-proclaimed “King of All Media” is about make good on at least one promise he made back in 2002 – that he’d launch a series of movies under the “Howard Presents” label, starting out with remakes of popular cult classics Porky’s and Rock N’ Roll High School.

Porky’s was due to be filmed in 2003, but somehow fell off the face of the earth.  Most of us assumed it was dead after awhile, but appears as if it’s not.  Stern says:

“They say it’s all greenlit and everything, ready to go. They say they can even start shooting in October, but I don’t know if that’s true. It seemed like a fun project, which it is.”

It’s not clear who exactly is behind writing the script, although we do know that several drafts have already been made.  Stern will be involved with the film in the role of producer, and says that a director has not yet been hired.

The original 1982 Porky’s was directed by Bob Clark, and followed the escapades of a group of teenagers at the fictional Angel Beach High School in Florida set in 1954.  Two Porkys sequels were also created:  Porky’s 2: The Next Day (1983) and Porky’s Revenge (1985).
