The Ni9es Downloadable Audio Commentary

On September 6th, 2007

The Nines is a 2007 film written and directed by John August and has had its debut at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. It is now currently in theatres but for those who are wondering what this movie is all about, Newmarket Films (via specialopsmedia) just sent us this downloadable audio commentary for the film who features stars such as Ryan Reynolds, Melissa McCarthy, Hope Davis, and Elle Fanning.

You can check out the commentary at the director, John August’s blog.

The audio commentary is a chance for the audience to learn more about the creation of the complex story and gain insight into the film’s secrets. Designed to be played on portable media players while watching the film in theaters, this is an unparalleled opportunity for a unique repeat viewing experience.

John August, the acclaimed screenwriter of Go, Big Fis, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Corpse Bride, makes his directorial debut with The Ni9es, an intricately constructed intriguing blur of reality, virtual reality and metaphysical fantasy. The film unfolds in three parts, featuring the same actors in different (and in some ways overlapping) incarnations.

I remember Kevin Smith made an audio commentary for Clerks II to encourage people to see the movie twice. Great idea but it was nixed because the studio and theaters feared audiences bringing in portable media devices that would bother other patrons or be used to record the movie.
