Warner Brothers Taps O’Flaherty to direct “Thundercats”
Another article from Variety.com has got me drooling all over! Yeah, and I’m not afraid to say that! Who wouldn’t when one of the best cartoon (for me, that is..) I watched ever since I was a kid, is coming to the bigscreen? All I can say is, “Ho!” Can any of you guess it yet? Thundercats!!! The news says that Warner Brothers has tapped videogame veteran Jerry O’Flaherty to helm the CG-animated “Thundercats.”
This will be the first film that O’Flaherty will officially direct. Of course, he already has experience with CG animations as the art director of best selling games such as “Gears of War” and “Unreal Tournament 3″ for Epic Games and the “Command and Conquer” series from Westwood Studios.
Warner Brothers will work on the Thundercats film. The original story expands on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.
The property revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee the planet of Thundera, which is destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer bent on killing them off.
