“Charlie Wilson’s War”, an upcoming film from Universal Pictures starring the Oscar-winning cast of Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, will open in U.S. theaters on Christmas Day this year.  The film is based off George Crile’s best-selling book, which was adapted for the big screen by screenwriter Aaron Sorkin.  The film was also directed by the Academy Award winning director Mike Nichols.

“Charlie Wilson’s War” is the true story of how a playboy congressman, a renegade CIA agent, and a beautiful Houston socialite joined forces to lead the largest and most successful covert operation in history.  Their efforts helped contribute to the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, with consequences that continue to reverberate throughout the world today.

With an all-star line up such as this, as well as an intriguing storyline, this is most definitely one of winter’s can’t miss films.
