Cusack and Weinstein Meet in ‘Shanghai’

On November 27th, 2007

Variety reported today “John Cusack is in talks to play an American who returns to a corrupt, Japanese-occupied Shanghai four months before Pearl Harbor and discovers his friend has been killed. While he unravels the mysteries of the death, he falls in love and discovers a much larger secret that his own government is hiding.”

Gong Li is a definite arrival to Weinstein’s film directed by Mikael Hafstrom who worked with Cusack in “1408.”

I’d like to see Cusack in a film like this because it’s intrigue and romance with a historical flair.
