Featuring the Oscar-winning team duo of George Clooney and Renee Zellweger, “Leatherheads” won’t open in theaters until April 4, 2008. In the meantime, Universal Pictures had made available the film’s trailer, and there are plenty of interesting things to check out on the film’s official website at www.leatherheadsmovie.com.

“Leatherheads” is a quick-witted romantic comedy, set against the backdrop of America’s pro-football league in 1925. In the film, Clooney plays Dodge Connelly, a charming, brash football hero who is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. However, after the players lose their sponsor, and the entire league faces a collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star to join is ragtag team. He hopes that this movie will help the ailing sport finally capture the attention of the country.

So the team welcomes Carter Rutherford (Krasinski) amongst their ranks. Carter is considered to be a “golden boy war hero” who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender during WWI, and has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. He seems almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton (Zellweger) sets out to prove that he is.
Lexie is a cub journalist playing in the big leagues, and suspects that there are holes in Carter’s war story. However, as she investigates, the two teammates start to become serious off-field rivals for her affection. Meanwhile, as the new game of pro-football becomes less like the freewheeling sport he knew and loved, Dodge fights to keep his guys together and get the girl of his dreams.
