Letterman Comes Back With Writers

On December 28th, 2007

marquee_med.jpgDavid Letterman’s Worldwide Pants reached an agreement with the WGA allowing “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late, Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson” back on the air next week with writers.

Letterman-produced shows come back Wednesday.

WGA issued a statement Friday confirming the agreement, citing the deal as proof that its demands aren’t unreasonable. You can find that statement at Variety.com.

Keep in mind that Worldwide Pants is a much smaller company compared to any of the members of the AMPTP. Interestingly, I am curious to know how the WGA and WWP were able to get around the fact that CBS Corporation –and not WWP–controls much of the revenue from streaming clips of Letterman-produced shows.

I am curious to see what the other latenighters plan on doing now that Letterman made a deal with WGA’s. We must keep in mind that the studios produce the other shows.

WGA asked just that of NBC Universal. They say Jay Leno supports the writers, so why not make it a company-wide deal.

Letterman came out with a statement as well, which you can read at Variety.com.
