‘Metropolis’ Remake in the Wings
If anyone has ever been a student of film, then you are familiar with Fritz Lang’s 1927 “Metropolis.”
According to Variety.com producer Thomas Schuehly “Alexander” has acquired the remake rights to Fritz Lang’s notable film and is partnering with Mario Kassar on an updated version of the 1927 silent sci-fi classic.
Much has been written about “Metropolis.”
I just wonder what a remake will do to this extraordinary, one-of-a-kind science fiction film.

Oh My God! I hope they really don’t do this.
So is gonna be a movie full of FX (21st century style) and nothing else. How can you remake a classic like that.
Leave classics alone!
what’s next? The Birth of a Nation?
Moriarty,
Very good point. I love the Lang’s version. It will be tough to see it as a remake. Perhaps, they could do a version and not let us know it is a remake because nothing could ever compare to the original, right?
Well, that’ll be the same thing, right?
Anyway, I complain because they should do NEW stuff. And stop these remakes over and over again.
Lang’s version is unique.

Yes. Lang’s version says it all. The lighting and story itself is quite amazing. It would be nice if they just did a whole other movie, say it is based on Lang’s version. I think, that would be appropriate.
