“Metropolis” Remake in the Works

December 11th, 2007 in Classic, Drama, Movie News, Movies, Sci-Fi -

metropolismovieposter.jpgThe rights to Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 film “Metropolis” have been purchased by Thomas Schühly (“Alexander”), who is reported to be teaming up with Mario Kassar on the project. Presently, they’re trying to snag a director, and are reportedly “in negotiations with a number of top directors” to work with them.

Speaking of the film, Schüly said, “With the overwhelming role of technology plays in our daily lives, the growing gap between rich and poor, including the gradual elimination of the middle class, the story of “Metropolis” is a frightening reflection of our society that takes place in an all too possible not too distant future.”

It could be an interesting film, but let’s see who they can get on board to direct.

The solution is to make the movie but not let us know it is a remake. Classics should remain classics as any film student will tell you.
