Abrams Casts 11-Year-Old Bennett as Young Kirk

jimmybennett.jpgCasting news on the next Star Trek film just keeps flowing in. Director J.J. Abrams’ latest addition to the film is 11-year-old Jimmy Bennett, who will play the role of a young James Kirk. Bennett has experience acting in big-name films, having made appearances already in such films as “Evan Almighty”,  “The Amityville Horror”, “Poseidon”, and “Firewall”.

In the film, the older Kirk will be played by Chris Pine.  Other confirmed members of the “Star Trek” cast include: Zachary Quinto, Zole Saldana, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Marline Forte, Simon Pegg, Bruce Greenwood, Anton Yelchin, Ben Cross, Winona Ryder, and Karl Urban. Distributing the film will be Paramount Pictures.
