It’s being directed by Nimród Antal which is very exciting! Kontroll was such an excellent film, and I think Vacancy was underappreciated.

I am familiar with “Vacancy,” which was released last year. It looked very scary. “Kontroll” is new to me, but looks like it’s an interesting film, comedy and thriller.

Perhaps with Fishbourne, Antal will get recognized more and appreciated more.

Vacancy was pretty scary. I thought the use of light and dark to create suspense was fairly clever, and the updating of the Psycho archetype was a nice touch. Also the ending was more in the Hitchcock vein…it’s resolved but not in the traditional Hollywood ending sense. It’s uncertain, precarious.

The comedy in Kontroll is fairly dark, and overall it’s a quite visceral film. Again, light and dark/shadow are used to great effect. The fact that the film never leaves the Budapest subway system lends the entire affair a kind of urban fairytale element.

It would be nice for Antal to carve a path for himself in Hollywood.

Thanks for the detail description of the two films by Antal. Yes, it looks like Antal will carve a path for himself in Hollywood.
