New Line to Relaunch “A Nightmare on Elm Street” Movie Series

According to the Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinemas is currently in talks with the production company Platinum Dunes to bring the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” film series back to life. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form are slated to produce the remake.
The very first “A Nightmare on Elm Street” film was written and directed by Wes Craven, and released in 1984. Following the success of the initial film, it spawned a multitude of sequels and established the series and the iconic Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) as one of the most popular villains in screen history.
Because the writers strike is still on-going, the film won’t pick up a writer until that is resolved. Nevertheless, producers are hoping to center at least part of the new movie on Krueger’s backstory.

This has disaster written all over it.
Michael Bay? Michael f**king Bay please tell me this is a horrible nightmare.
