February 14th, 2008 in Directors, Movie News, The Movie Biz -

landis.jpgJohn Landis will get back in the director’s chair with “Ghoulishly Yours, William M. Gaines,” a biopic based on the life of the publisher of EC Comics and Mad magazine.

Landis plans to develop the project with Joel Eisenberg, who’s also penning the script. Film focuses on the anti-establishment group of artists and writers, led by a reluctant Gaines and cohort Al Feldstein, as they publish their comic books. At the peak of his success, Gaines became a First Amendment figurehead due to his unapologetic testimony before a Senate subcommittee investigating juvenile delinquency.

Landis most recently directed “Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project” for HBO.

Landis is an excellent choice for this project! Who will be cast as Gaines? How about Bill Murray?

Bill Murray is an excellent choice whereas Johnny Depp might prove frutiful.

Anyway, no casting yet; way to early in pre-producton.

As soon as I know, I will post the lucky fella.
