Variety reports that George Lucas is not directing Red Tails; this was confirmed by a LucasFilm spokesperson.

The movie focuses on the Tuskegee Airmen and the racism the World War 2 airmen faced. The project is being penned by John Ridley; Lucas will serve as an executive producer which Rick McCallum and Charles Floyd Johnson are producing.

No one else is yet attached to the project, including distributors or financers. It can also be noted that Steven Spielberg isn’t pursuing the project either.
