Giveaway — ‘The Deal’

On July 22nd, 2008

If you ever wanted to understand politics in the United Kingdom, The Deal is a great education of how the Parliament works.  Michael Sheen and David Morrissey take on the roles of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

Although the movie feels dry at times, it is, perhaps, the director’s way of creating the mood of government.

To enter the giveaway of The Deal, post your name and I will draw the winner Thursday, July 24th.  Good luck!

Here is what the winner receives:

Synopsis

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown shared a tiny windowless office in the House of Commons in 1983, and a friendship grew out of similar political philosophies and ambitions.  When the Labour Party suddenly needed a new leader they were the front-runners, and one of them had to stand aside.  The two friends were faced with making a life altering decision, almost exclusively determining the future of British politics.

Special Features

  • A Conversation with Stephen Frears
  • Audio Commentary with Writer Peter Morgan
  • Biographies – Tony Blair and Gordon Brown

You got me…now I want to know if politics in the UK are different from those in America. I’ve become very interested in our political system during the past year. Funny at this stage in my life I would/should be more interested in planning my retirement…but this year’s primaries really got me going. I would love to see the film to get some insights into how the Brits handle their democratic process.
