‘Watchmen’ Trailer
This trailer doesn’t say much about the movie Watchmen as far as the plot goes. Zack Snyder directed this film and trailer. He also directed 300 and it’s trailer. Who are these people, the Watchmen? For the most part watchmen look like CGI characters. What do you think?

Yeah, I’ve never even heard of this movie. What the heck could it be about? Oh wait – isn’t it based on the MOST FAMOUS GRAPHIC NOVEL EVER MADE? Obviously it’s a trailer to appease fans of that first and foremost. And obviously you’re trolling for those fans to leave snarky comments.
Lol. To the outsider, like this poster, it should be known hat to know the plot of Watchmen is to ruin it. The novel progressed in this rather messy yet engaging way for most of it, until towards the end the plot is revealed.
I am concerned about Zack Snyder’s talents, though, as 300 was all style and no substance.
I just wish they don’t screw up Rorsasch’s character.
Thanks all for clarification. But if you watch this trailer it says nothing for those outsiders. Although I just received a press release from EW that Snyder is screening Watchmen teaser footage at Comic Con.
“In my movie, Superman doesn’t care about humanity, Batman can’t get it up, and the bad guy wants world peace,” Snyder says with a smirk. “Will Watchmen be the end of superhero movies? Probably not. But it sure will kick them in the gut.”
In the press release it offers details about the making of the movie.
Hmm. I wonder if EW read this post.
Overabundance of CGI is my first thought. From what the trailer showed, everything feels really sleek, whereas Watchmen the graphic novel has a very grimy feel. I’m not sure if that’s making sense to anyone, but the aesthetics feel … off.
1:28 surprised me. If that’s who I think it is, how is he managing to knock a chunk of the wall out with his punch?
MY problem is that the Night Owl is so slim and kick-ass. In the comic he was middle aged and despressed. I hope the film doesn’t lose sight of this
That’s a good point, eoin. The only thing I could think of is maybe his action scenes were flashbacks from when he was still in his prime.
The scene in the trailer where he kicks someone is the jail scene in the comic where he goes after Roscarch, so it’s not in the past.
True, although we don’t get a very clear look at him in that portion. I’m guessing they’ve probably tossed out the doughy has-been angle of Nite-Owl, though. Which is unfortunate, because I thought it gave the character an added level of depth.
I opt for the slick, 300, “comic book come to life” feel as opposed to giving the movie a retro, although possibly more authentic to the novel, style. I felt like in reading watchmen that it gave off a futuristic feel even though it was set in the past and from the trailer, the movie seems to do a good job of capturing the grim but sleek motif that is felt in the novel. As far as Night Owl goes, he really does kick some ass in the novel and his middle age is only noticeable when he is creeping around his house, missing the glory days (probably intentional). This trailer looks great and I am really excited for the movie.
Thanks for clarifying the characters and comic book. I am looking forward to more trailers and clips of Watchmen as the release date comes closer.
