Mummy 4 in Peru

August 7th, 2008 in Action, Actors, Directors, Sequels -

mummy3-brendan Following the “overwhelming audience response” to Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Film School Rejects are reporting that Rob Cohen is already planning to make a fourth film in the franchise. Where will the next movie be set? Where else can you get mummies? Peru, of course!

Both Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello suggested South America to be the next location for the fourth film. Cohen had more to add.

“What I’m really happy about is that, by taking ‘The Mummy’ out of Egypt and putting it in China, by exploring a different approach to the quest for immortality, we now have it clear that the ‘Mummy’ franchise can travel,” he said. “Now we know that if we want to go to Mexico or we want to go to Peru, we can because there’s a cultural truth there of the mummies and these beautiful cultures… So I think that somehow that might make the basis of a good story.”

As expected, no release date was given, though you can expect to see the film in another three years.

Um… don’t you mean *5th*? Let’s see – we have The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which is the 4th in the franchise. A further Mummy film would be number 5. Granted, Scorpion King wasn’t about a mummy, but centred on the character introduced in The Mummy Returns, hence falls within the franchise.

I don’t consider Scorpion King to be an entry in the Mummy franchise. It was a spinoff off the Scorpion King presented in the Mummy sequel.

i agree with the claim that scorpion king was not an actual part of the mummy series. i also think that the imhotep storyline is not properly resolved and should have been.

however i would very much like to see a mummy film set in atlantis or one with a dinosaur-mummy. dinosaurs definitely fit in the overall pulp-atmosphere.

You guys are right the scorpion king is a stand alone. I would love to see another Mummy movie also, but I’d like to see Rachel Weiss come back as well as the original Mummy some how.

I agree, I would love to see mummy 4 with the original Mrs. O’ Connell (Rachel Weiss) and Imotep. The chemistry between Rick, Evelyn and Jonathan is great. You can cut son out of the picture and bring back Imotep.
    I’ll be waiting.

i cant wait for the 4th one. i liked the third one but it isnt the instant classic the first one was, i also thought that luke ford did a great job as alex. and i know people want imotep back but after two movies with him there isnt much else you can do with him without it gettting old, also imotep kind of gave up at the end of the second movie.

I hope that Director could use the Inka culture as much he can. Is a lot to explore and to use. inka culture is rich in tarditions, mysteries and loyalty. Also could you please bring back Rachel Weiz in the series….We are expecting to see the movie this year…

Why don't you get a history book? My country has way more than "llamas" and "Francisco Pizarro" … By the way it's a good title, and if they get a good research about incas, pre incas, and other topics on the timeline they wll geat something big. Please don't make it like the Indiana Jones movia that was so wrong that we felt insulted!

matt has failed logic and maths.

if you are counting the scorpion king (which most people arent) then this would be 6th as there is

    Mummy
    Mummy 2
    Scorpion
    Mummy 3
Scorpion 2 ( although no1′s heard of it nevermind watch it)

I cant wait to see the Mummy 4,I already read that Maria Bello (the new Evy) signed on for the film so sorry to all the people, including mysellf, that wanted to see Rachel Weiz came back. Brendan Fraser has to come back, it just would not be the same without him!!!! hopefully the movie will go into production soon, I cant wait!!!!

Its rather tragic that this franchise is being run into the ground and taking Brendan's (who is actually a great actor) reputation down with it.

He's already having a hard time getting good roles these days…I'm just scared these bombing is going to scare anyone else from working with him.

The only way these movies (and yes they have plans all the way up to a 6th) is to cut Maria, get back Rachel (or someone else who has as much ability), and forget the whole Alex angle.

I would be fine if they just chucked the whole mummy franchise altogether and made some more action or adventure movies based around new characters for Brendan and Rachel because they are a great team! I know the writers wouldn't like this because they'd actually have to write a good script to get her back in (unlike that Emperor trash…) but it would make more higher quality movies with much more lasting power (i don't see anyone talking about how great the 3rd installment was for years to come) than the last mistake they call a movie.

IF PERU IS THE BEST PLACE TO FIND MUMMIES THEN WHY NOT HAVE THE MOVIE WITH INCAS INSTEAD OF AZTECS?!!! IF HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS DIDN'T KNOW, THE AZTECS WERE FROM MEXICO NOT PERU..I HATE HOW MISLEADING MOVIES ARE, DOES IT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF THEY USE THE ACCURATE INFORMATION? FIRST INDIANA JONES AND NOW THE MUMMY UGH SO ANNOYING

YEAH! WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?! Why don't they make a good research… there's a quote in here (Peru) that says: "No mezcles papas con camotes"… it means something like dont' mix thing to mess it all… (But i guess you're peruvian right? lol)

It has to be in Peru !!! At the end of "The Mummy: The Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor" Jonathan says he's going to move to Peru, and then the off voice says that some years later mummies were discovered in Peru… SO IT HAS TO BE HERE!!!
