Australian actors Guy Pearce, Ben Mendelson, Joel Edgerton and Jackie Weaver have all signed up to star in crime drama Animal Kingdom.

The film marks the directorial debut of David Michod, focusing on 17-year old Joshua Cody trying to survive a criminal family with help from a cop played by Pearce.

The project is being distributed by Madman Entertainment, with Liz Watts producing.
