Variety reports that Mike Tollin Productions has acquired screen rights to In the Space Left Behind, a comedy novel from Joan Ackermann.

The story follows a teenager in an eccentric family who has his life turned upside down when his absentee father shows up and offers him the opportunity to collect the $70,000 bounty on his head while his mother heads to Vegas for her third honeymoon.

Ackermann himself is adapting the script which Tollin, Sam Weissman and Todd Dagres will produce.
