Natalie Portman will star with Scott Cohen and Charlie Tahan in Love and Other Impossible Pursuits written and directed by Don Roos, from an Ayelet Waldman novel.

Filming begins in Manhattan on Nov. 10.

The story pivots around a young woman who finds the key to recovering her marriage in her relationship with her precocious stepson.

Portman will be executive producer under her Handsomecharlie films banner.

According to Variety, Portman’s deal salvages a film when it hit a development road block.  Portman loves the script and saved the film from doomsville.

If you haven’t heard Portman recently wrote and directed Eve, a short film that starred Lauren Bacall, Ben Gazzara and Olivia Thirlby.
