From Variety comes word that Steve Zaillian has signed on to adapt the nonfiction bestseller Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis for Sony Pictures.

The film will tell the story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, who put together a baseball club on a shoestring budget by using computer-based analysis of draft players.

The movie is set to be a potential vehicle for Brad Pitt. David Frankel is attached to direct.
