Director of popular films such as Bend it Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, British-Asian helmer Gurinder Chadha’s next project will be horror comedy It’s a Wonderful Afterlife for HanWay Films.

The film concerns a British-Asian mother whose obsession to marry off her daughter leads to comical serial murder. It is being described as Shaun of the Dead meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

The $10 million project will have Chadha co-writing and producing with her husband Paul Berges. Shooting begins in UK in February 2009.
