Academy Honors Jerry Lewis
On December 10th, 2008
Long overdue acknowledgement is set in place for Jerry Lewis, who will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Feb. 22 Oscar’s ceremony.
According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the award “is given to an individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.”
Lewis started way back in the early 50′s making televised requests for Muscular Dystrophy Association and he’s held the organization’s national chairman since 1952.
