Romancing the Stone Remake

Remake mode for Romancing the Stone, which starred Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito and was directed by Robert Zemekis, is in the works. The 1984 film adventure remake will be written by Daniel McDermott, a former Dreamworks television executive turned screenwriter of Eagle Eye.
The original story was written by Diane Thomas, which weaved an adventure about a repressed romance novelist who travels to Colombia to find her missing sister. Yet she meets up with an American soldier of fortune. The two mount on a cross-country adventure involving a map, a jewel and a private police force.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Thomas wrote the script while working as a waitress in Malibu. It turned out to be her only produced screenplay; she died in a car crash the year after the film’s release.
