Derrickson Directing Hyperion Cantos
On January 30th, 2009
Moving on from the debacle that was The Day the Earth Stood Still, Scott Derickson has been hired to direct Hyperion Cantos by Warner Bros. and GK Films.
The script is being written by Trevor Sands, who will blend Dan Simmons’ two sci-fi novels – “Hyperion” and “The Fall of Hyperion” – into one film. The story is set in the future where a space war threatens Hyperion, a planet host to the Time Tombs which are large artifacts that can move through time and are guarded by a gruesome monster called the Shrike.
Sands is also working on adapting Six Million Dollar Man for Dimension Films and Startide Rising for Paramount.

oh please god NO!!!!!!!!!!!!they will probably turn this into a cgi driven fluff piece that true fans of the hyperion cantos won’t even recognize!!!!way to complex of a story to turn into movie.
