Bavaria Planning Death of a Superhero

Variety carries word that Bavaria Pictures is set to produce Superhero, an upcoming fantasy drama which has a budget of $7-10 million.
The film will be directed by New Zealand author and filmmaker Anthony McCarten from his own critically acclaimed bestselling novel Death of a Superhero. It follows a teenage comic book artist suffering from leukemia who finds escape from the harsh realities of life in his illustrated adventures. These stories see the indestructible Miracle Man fight a never-ending battle against his arch nemesis, the mad scientist known as The Glove.
Most of the live-action scenes will be shot in New Zealand, with animated sequences to be rendered by Munich-based Teixter Fil.
