Brad Bird Discusses ’1906,’ ‘Toy Story 3,’ ‘Iron Giant’

On February 8th, 2009

The first time I heard about 1906 was in the news when James Dalessandro took his idea (treatment) to major studios for the top offer.  Barry Levinson’s production company purchase the treatment for a million dollars with Dalessandro in place to write three drafts of the script and the novel.

Today, Brad Bird (Incredibles) is re-writing the script with plans to direct the live action movie.  Latino Review conducted an informative Q and A with Bird, which you can read at  Latino Review.  Bird discusses Toy Story 3, Iron Giant and Up as well.

Some years ago I interviewed James Dalessandro over at Screenwriters Utopia.  He talks about 1906 and screenwriting in general, very insightful about the movie industry from a writer’s point of view.
