Seeing as how vampires are all the rage these days, The CW looks to be cashing in on the trend, as the network has picked up a pilot based on L.J. Smith’s Vampire Diaries book series.

Published back in 1993, the series revolved around a young woman who was torn between two vampire brothers. The brothers – one good, the other evil – are battling for the soul of their sister, her friends, family and the town where they live.

The television series is being adapted by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec; they will also serve as executive producers.
