Narwhals Review–All The Fun About Our Finny Friends You Can Handle

March 9th, 2009 in Animation, Movies, Music, Musical, Reviews -

And now, a word about one of the most underappreciated species of the sea, courtesy of the patently legendary site Newgrounds.

That’s right, today I’m talking Narwhals.

I clicked on the video labelled Narwhals, thinking I’d get some kind of soap-opera-esque short film about the tiny whales with kickass horn action, but no.  What I got instead was a music video of such patent lunacy and sheer fun that it bears passing on. Maybe you haven’t heard about the narwhal–think of them as “underwater unicorns”.  The song sure does.  Their name comes from Old Norse for “corpse whale”, and they do indeed have one large horn near their faces that they use for defense.  They’re on the smallish side for whales, but they’re still pretty big, and they got that “corpse whale” name for a reason–their pasty white skin.

And if you go see Narwhals, then you’ll get to enjoy, on a repeating loop, a really fun and upbeat dance-mix about, well, narwhals.  I never thought I could have this much fun with narwhals…and until you see this, you probably won’t either.
