The Jerusalem Post reports that Slumdog Millionaire heroine Freida Pinto has joined the cast of the Hind Husseini biopic Miral.

The story, based on Rula Jebreal’s book, follows Husseini who founded an orphanage in Jerusalem in the wake of the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel.

The film has been written by Julian Schnabel who will also direct. Filming starts next month in Israel and Palestine territories.
