The trades report Aasif Mandvi (The Daily Show), Shaun Toub (Iron Man) and Cliff Curtis (Live Free or Die Hard) as having joined the cast of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.

In development at Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies, the film is based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated series. it will be live-action and will follow Aang (Noah Ringer) as he discovers that he has the power to manipulate the four elements (earth, wind, fire and water). With his powers he has to restore balance to his war-torn world.

Mandvi will play the role of Commander Zhao, Tou as Uncle Iroh and Curtis as the ruthless ruler Fire Lord Ozai.

Shooting kicks off later this month.
