Donaldson to Direct Mona Lisa Theft

Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job) is set to direct a screen adaptation of Seymour Reit’s novel The Day They Stole the Mona Lisa, reports Variety.

The book focuses on the theft of the popular painting from the Louvre in 1911. It was missing for two years before an Italian carpenter named Vincent Perugia showed up with the painting in Florence.

The adaptation will center on the conman who masterminded the theft. No release date was given.
