The book is a classic, and so is the TV movie. But now that It is being made for the big-screen, no compromises are apparently being made, as according to Dave Kajganich, the scribe adapting Stephen King’s novel, they are hoping to stay true to the book.

He explains that the film will not be watered down to cater to a wider audience, but will be rated R. “[It] means we can really honor the book and engage with the traumas (both the paranormal ones and those they deal with at home and school) that these character endure,” he said.

Kajganich adds that the film will be set in the mid-1980s and in the present almost equally, mirroring the almost 20-year gap in the book.
