Actor Kellan Lutz (Twilight) has joined the cast of the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street remake for Warner Bros and New Line.

He is in negotiations to play a popular school jock. However, due to his commitment on New Moon, the upcoming Twilight sequel, his role won’t kick off until late in the shoot.

The film returns to the roots of the famed horror franchise. Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) plays the new Freddy Krueger.

Helmed by Samuel Bayer, shooting starts May 5 in Chicago.
