April 7th, 2009 in Book-to-Movie, Directors, Fantasy, Sci-Fi -

Staying in the same genre as Harry Potter, Mike Newell (Goblet of Fire) will direct a new film version of John Masefield’s classic novel The Box Of Delights for Brilliant Films.

The book followed a boy entrusted with a magic box that allows him to travel through time.

The script is currently being adapted by Frank Cottrell Boyce (Millions). The property was last adapted into a BBC TV series back in 1984.

Newell is currently finishing post-production on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
