David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees) has signed on to direct the upcoming romantic comedy Aaron and Sarah.

In the works at Fox 2000, the film centers on a nerdy guy and a popular girl who meet as freshmen and, over four years of high school, become friends and eventually fall in love.

The screenplay has been penned by Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey. Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen will produce.
