A rumor had been making the rounds on the Internet for the last couple of days that Dimension Films had let the film rights to Sin City 2 expire.

It was also suggested that the movie would be financed by a private equity group and that an announcement would be expected soon.

The story has been debunked by MTV today, who carries an official statement from Weinstein’s attorney Bert Fields: “TWC’s rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash.”

But it still doesn’t answer the vital question: when do we get to see it in theaters?
